First of all, welcome to Tom, Tom, and Dwight to the fold. The second Tom just joined and will be recognized shortly. The Wayne Miniature giant scale show was this weekend and they put on a nice show until the effects of the tropical storm came in during the afternoon. Our club was well represented with most of the giant scale folks. Even if you don't come to fly, try to make it to the local club events and help support them as they do us. Whether it's buying food, raffles, or even signing up as a pilot to build up their numbers. We could easily do ten better at our shows if all of the spectator R\C pilots would sign up. Just a thought.
The IMAC contest has been cancelled by the director Kent Porter. Reasons behind the decision were many. A few include a major contest the following week in Tennesee has caused the advanced pilots to pull out of our contest. Gas prices are keeping southern state pilots from showing. And finally, even if a bunch of local guys sign up, there would be few qualified judges to officiate the show. And this would not be fair to the experienced IMAC pilots. So, onwards to next season when Kent may ask us to host an early Spring contest. That said, interested pilots may want to get with IMAC reps and learn the routine now so they will be ready for Spring. Also, there has been a small interest in sport pattern flying. NOT competition! For those interested in honing their skills, please see Doc, Glenn, or Mike.  Mike

Just a quick word. Please check out our guest and May Fly-in photo pages to see David Wells new shots. Thanks to David for his wonderful addition to our site. Keep in mind, David is a photo hobbyist just doing what he loves to do just like us. I feel many of his shots rival the great News Argus shots! Also thanks to Tom Shaw (New member) for our first video on the site of Kirby. Welcome does go out to the two new Toms that just joined the club. Say hey when you see 'em. They both are ready for any assist we can provide.
Also a quick question..."Where is everyone?!!!" I know gas prices are high, but we haven't seen most folks more than once this year! Come on out before it's over 100 degrees every weekend. Mike

We have found out the hard way that the new JR DX6i 2.4 radio system will not buddy box to our available boxes (JR Quattro, X400). It is a quirk specific to the 6i. These boxes will work with all other 2.4 radios. That said, we are in need of an old JR 6102, 7202, or SX600 transmitter. If you have upgraded and are willing to part with yours (preferably donation or small cost), please contact Andy, Cadd, or Mike with offer. We have students coming in with the new 6i and are having other members change trims to use theirs for now. Thanks, Mike

Come and gone, the show went on despite our reliable weathermen forcasting bad weather and high gas prices. 34 pilots attended what turned out to be a very enjoyable day for all. RDRC once again stole the show with their Outlaw mayhem (assisted by Nelson Phillips and Andy Thompson), and Robert Vess braving the winds with two flights on his BVM KIng Cat turbine jet. RDRC won this years "Cool Factor" award for their antics efforts! The "Peoples Choice" Awards went to: Jaqui Lewis (Senior Kadet), Joe King (Modified TF B-25), and Jay Benson (SD Yak 54). Many folks went away happy after 4 rounds of 50/50, and raffles. Thanks goes out to Glenns Hobby Corner of Goldsboro for their contribution of an Extreme Flight Outlaw! Thanks also goes out to all who helped set up and run the show including John, Cadd, and Dwight in impound, Tim and Wayne for dropping the 50/50 balls, and our good ladies of the snack booth. And thanks to all who attended! Mike

Hey folks, it's that time again... time to blow off the dust from the winter garage storage and charge up the batteries! Don't forget to give them a good cycle and check! Also give your equipment a good look over. Make sure no hanger rash occured from moving around stuff during the off season. Change out fuel tube pieces on all clevices, check for Monokote sags, buy new rubber bands for trainers, and give your field box battery a good charge. It probably wouldn't hurt to buy some fresh fuel assuming you haven't flown all Winter like many club members have.
Our Fly-in is only two weeks away. Preparations are in work. Please contact Andy, Cadd, or I if you can help with  prep, running the show, or supplying needed items.
A guest photo page has been created since David Wells (Enthusiastic spectator!) sent me his great shots. Carrols photos have been added with his under the guest photo file name.
Another reminder: Please pay club dues!   Mike

Apr 20, 2008
This weekend ECRC attended the Spring RDRC all-scale fly-in. The good folks at RDRC always host a well organized event. If you have not attended one, please join us at the next one! Keep a watch on coastalplanes.com calendar for a list of upcoming shows. It also promotes a team feeling among club members when we both represent and support other clubs. After all, we like them to come to ours too! We even walked away with a few good raffle prizes courtesy of East RC. Another benefit of attending these shows is the availability of "yard sale" prices as flyers sell off their old stuff cheap. A good place to pick up airframes, engines, and even radios.
We are now readying our field for the May 31st fly-in. Please contact Andy, Cadd, or me if you can assist. We also picked up good info on what we need to do for the IMAC contest.
The weather is improving, the wind is calming. Please make a showing to let us know you are still around. Club dues are still needed by many. Mike

Mar 16, 2008
Hey folks! Not much going on this time of year I know...but... We have a busy year ahead and much to do. First of all, Club dues are OVERDUE! February is dues month and as of now, we have only 19 members paid up. Now I can hear the typical excuses... " I don't see the club treasurer ever", "I don't come to the field when it's cold", "I didn't know they were due". Remember folks, that if you are a member, don't expect to pay up in June or July and expect to be pro-rated...won't happen! That only applies to new members and those deployed to war. We have many needs this year to make ends meet, including three fly-ins, grass cutting, utilities, and hopefully a new lawn mower.
Speaking of fly-ins, May 31st in only a tick away, and setup is already in the works. Field work and planning are everyones job, not just club officers! Remember, it is a "all scale fly-in" this time, so all are encouraged to bring whatever you have. We have had too many fly-ins where visitors come from 50-75  miles away to participate, paying good coin to fly, eat, and enjoy the raffles, while the majority of our own club comes if at all, with no airplanes and just watches. Come on guys!
Please see Cadd Harper , Andy Thompson, or Mike Stokking with Club Dues, or to volunteer to help at the field and or Fly-ins.  Thanks, Mike

Feb 6, 2008
As promised, the meeting minutes have finally been compiled and are ready to post.

- First was an apology for the meeting place. Pizza Inn has been accommodating for years, but has recently turned their meeting room into a game room. They did their best to give us some space, but we are looking for a new location. A building in Snow Hill was offered by Dick Parker as was the classroom at Glenn’s Hobby.

- The Club Secretary/Treasurer read his report next: The club is financially sound, but just enough to get us through the year without fly-ins. The main concerns for this year are the increased cost of the field rent due to our expanded runway, the port-a-jon monthly expense, and grass cutting. It was also discussed that the club mower is in need of major repair or replacement.

A "job well done" was given for two superb fly-ins last year. The snack bar is well run, but a ledger needs to be kept and a maximum maintained by the snack bar folks and the rest given to the Treasurer. Club cards will be eliminated in 2008 in lieu of a stamp on AMA cards. Finally, it was finalized that Military deployed and/or transferred personnel will be pro-rated.

New items:

- Children and pets need to be tended to and not allowed to run amok. Safety is paramount, and children have been allowed to roam freely around the flightline and construction areas.

- Trash needs to be emptied frequently by all members as needed. Crashed airplanes need to be taken home, not dumped at the field.

- Lawnmower situation: Mowers were offered for sale by Glenn, Wayne, and Clayton. We will work on this more in the Spring after our Dues income is collected and accounts assessed.

- New position of Field Manager proposed and approved. John Barber has volunteered.

- Discussions were held pertaining to display shows. The base airshow has been cancelled for the year. Mall show was discussed and rejected after agreeing our mall is lacking in all areas. Other ideas for public displays will be tabled.

- Attaching a charity to our events was discussed. We don’t want to do it just to do it. Other clubs have led the way, but we need a good local cause to go with before deciding.

- It was discussed that we turn one of our fly-in dates into a big blowout event. Possibly a big Warbird show or Huckfest.

- Wayne will work on a swap meet for this year. Possibly next Fall or Winter.

- Aircraft familiarity was discussed including Model setup, pre-flights, post-flights, failsafe setup, advanced aerobatic training, and proper construction. It seems too many modellers now rely on ARFS and have lost the knowledge of aircraft construction and repair. All too many folks bring their models home and never check basic security and soundness of their models. Also, Many members have been trained to fly and left to fend for themselves with advanced flying techniques. Lessons have been proposed in each subject.

- Safety discussion included: too many people flying over pits, improper airplane setup and trim, and aircraft startup procedures.

- Elections were held:

President: Andy Thompson

Vice President: Mike Stokking

Treasurer/Secretary: Cadd Harper

Safety Officer: Wayne Palmer

Jan 12, 2008
Happy new year from your now "Vice president"! As most of you know, our Annual club meeting was held Jan 7th and a lot was accomplished. Briefly, Andy Thompson was voted in as your new President and I was voted in as Vice. Our Treasurer/Secretary that was elected has politely backed out due to personal reasons but should be thanked for the offer. As it stands now, Cadd Harper should be voted in this weekend as second in the running. It was voted also to remove the Warbird show from our schedule due to a busy year ahead. No date was planned, so it should make no impact. More notes will be posted as Andy transcribes his voice recorder to paper. Mike

Dec 15, 2007
As the year wraps up, I would like to thank all those have made ECRC a club to be proud of. We have accomplished many goals that were set out for us. Many more remain in the coming year. One of the most significant achievements this year has been our increased credibility among the clubs in our area form Durham to the coast. We have hosted two of our most successful fly-ins to date with increasing numbers of participants each event. Our bank account is healthier than any time in recent club history thanks to proper accounting and some risk taking by Andy. By that, I refer to larger prizes awarded at our fly-ins, drawing in more flyers (spend more to make more). As well as a increase the size of our snack bar with the help of Glen's larger fridge with Clayton and Misty keeping it stocked. Our field is larger and great care has been given to it. This coming year, we have many more projects to finish up with changes to our clubhouse, awnings, and a new impound house.
With that, I bring to your attention, the creation of a new club officer position; that of Field/project manager. This will require a person of dedication and resourcefulness. Also a person with leadership capabilities that can call together and lead work groups on projects and field preparation prior to fly-ins. He/she will need to insure the port-a-jon is taken care of, the trash is emptied regularly, and the field and clubhouse is kept neat. This is absolutely ALL of our job to do, but they will make arrangements to spread the work load fairly.
January 7th is our annual meeting. At it, we will be electing club officers and make decisions for the coming years events and activities. I encourage all of you to consider carefully, who you would like to nominate for the many positions available. The days of saying "Let's just leave it well enough alone" are gone. We need to keep progressing as a club, and that means making necessary changes if warrented. If you like the people in charge, re-nominate them if they so wish. If not, please step up and volunteer. We were not all born to run things, but we all have a part to play. If all of us say "I just want to go out, fly, and go home", we would not have a club. Many of you have said you don't have the "flying" experience to be a club officer. These are two different things. Leadership is a learned thing just like flying. You have to start somewhere. We need folks as President and VP who can work with club members, listen to their needs, and act on them with the other club officers. As a safety officer, you need to be able to learn the safety rules, and be willing to confront those who violate them. As a treasurer/secretary, you need good book-keeping skills and sound money management abilities. But most of all, you need to be dedicated to the club's best interest and put in a little extra time to do what is needed. You have seen most of what Andy, Ronnie and I have done. There is a lot more behind the scenes you haven't. But all of it are things most of you can handle. We will not let any volunteers go into it cold. We have put many things into place that just need to be continued. So step up folks, and do your part even just for a single season!
I also need your inputs for meeting topics. The lawn mower situation has been put on the table and will be discussed. We have four, possibly five fly-ins this year. We need ideas brought to the meeting about those and field upgrades. Also we will be putting together a team to draw up a new constitution and by-laws.
Please get involved. We have an exiting season ahead of us and it will take you to make it so. Happy Holidays. Mike

It's great to see the web site counter climb. It gives a good pulse of the club involvement. The more it is viewed, the more we can continue to let it grow into the communication medium it should be.
Contest dates are continuing to be received and will be posted ASAP after receipt.
The "For sale" board is open and we need all the items we can get posted to make it worth while. If you have anything sitting around collecting dust, send me the info and a pic so I can get it sold for you.
Finally, continue your thoughts and prayers for a quick recovery for our friend Steve McFadden at the Caswell (Kinston) club. If you haven't heard about his horrific accident with his plane, ask at the club. Mike

Nov 8, 2007
We have added a "For sale" page into the site. Please send sale item info and pictures to the E-Mail at the bottom of the page or see Mike with info and digital pictures. Unlike the guest book, these additions will be put in by the club Webmaster and not the general public. All that is asked is that your sale description accurately fits the item. This is open to ECRC, Kinston, and Wayne miniature (Rosewood) clubs.
Now that it is cooling off, we seem to have a better showing at the field on Sundays. We need to do a lot of work to the field. Mainly moving the awnings, and constructing a radio impound. If you can help out, see Mike or Andy to find out when the work will be done. Any ideas for the field can be given to them also.
Questions have arisen about the "Foamie" fly-in. This was an idea that Doug proposed and is in the discussion stages only. It was posted to bring up ideas. The same is true about the War bird Fly-in. Brian and Donald are heading up those plans. Mike

Oct 30, 2007
A quick update for those who do not frequent the field. Field renovations are in work, starting with the moving of the club house out into the parking lot area. This frees up lots of room in the pit area for structure moves and field usage. It also allows us to leave the safety threshold where it is giving us a larger runway (instead of the original plan to move the threshold out 5'). Power hook-up is in work with additional power to be routed to the awnings. The lone awning to the right of the field will be moved just to the other side of the double gate, and a radio impound will be constructed onto the end of the awning on the left side ending at the double gate. This will give us a "ticket booth" style impound. The two awnings on the left will be adjusted to the same height and the roofs connected. The far left awning will be a spectator area with two rows of benches to be added. The middle awning will have the work table and park bench left in place for now. The welcome sign/radio impound will be removed and AMA regulations will be moved to the side of the new radio impound on a message board. The club house can now be configured for both storage and food concession like it was planned for before but couldn't because of its proximity to the runway. Most of these changes are happening with the advent of possibly having four shows next year alone plus any club events. Until now the field was primarily designed for weekend use, but now changes can be justified for both weekend and show use. Mike

Sorry I'm late with this, but the Big Bird show was awesome! For our club especially, we had a record 47 pilots register with 58 planes on the ready. Pilots and clubs from All over Eastern Carolina showed their stuff on a picture perfect Saturday. Alex Porter won the much anticipated DA50 raffle while Trent Wilhelm and Mike Saleeby took the Peoples choice honors. The field was immaculate thanks to Clayton and Misty Williams, Brian Brennan and a host of others. Food went without a hitch thanks to Karen and Katie Thompson, Misty Williams, and Kendall Palmer. Thanks also to Desert Aircraft, Vess Propellers, Glenns Hobby Corner, Donald Webber, and Goldsboro Printing and records for their contributions. And last but not least, John Barber and Clayton Williams for what was called "an outstanding radio impound". Check out Flying Giants web site and look for the RDRC Travelling Circus video of the show. This video was taken courtesy of Jay Benson of RDRC: http://media.putfile.com/ECRC-10-13-07 .Thanks to all!  Mike

Approval has been granted to ECRC by our landlord to expand the runway! It has been officially voted on to widen the runway 10' but only move the safety threshold out 5' giving us both a wider runway and more pit space. Additionally, the runway will be lengthened 50' on the left side. The far right pilot stand will be moved to the left of the other three giving us three stands in the middle section and an additional one will be added to the left of the far left threshold opening. This equates obviously to five stands total. We will see how five pilots work for a trial period on normal Sundays.
Plans have been finalized for the Bigbird show. Robert Vess has generously donated large scale Vess propellers to our raffle offerings. The News Argus and WGBR have been faxed our information and we will be borrowing the large Airshow sign from the Kinston club for out on Hwy 70. Hopefully these will get the word out for enhanced spectator numbers. Brian Brennan will be helping our already motivated groundskeepers Clayton and Misty in grooming the field from Wednsday to Friday.
We had a great turn-out Sunday with 20+ aircraft. It was a scorcher of a day, but with the Fall arriving, we hope to have this turn-out on a more regular basis.

Oct 5, 2007
The raffle engine is on hand and the "Peoples Choice" plaques are ready! Food plans are being finalized as are peolpe to fill positions at the show. A field work day will be Friday 12 Oct. to be headed by Brian Brennan. Grass mowing/weed eating and club house/ port-a-john clean-up is needed to provide a clean, enjoyable atmosphere for our guests. Bar-b-que grills needed. Contact Andy to provide. Mike

Sept 27, 2007
Mike's photos added from RDRC. Please submit yours to have them added. Oct 13th Fly-in approaching rapidly! Volunteers needed for all positions running the show. All Big bird pilots encouraged to bring and fly their aircraft at the show.

Sept 19, 2007
Wow! Is all I can say about the show RDRC just put on. And I mean a show, not just a fly-in. Demos, music, movies, great food, and $17,000 raised for a great cause (Victory Junction). We had about ten members of ECRC represent at the show with about half that flying and the rest entering to support the cause and just enjoy the event. Cadd and John B. walked away with a few very nice prizes. Noontime demos were top notch. For those who haven't heard, there was a turbine jet, turbine chopper, turboprop Yak, Aerobatic demos, Outlaw mayhem, and none other than Quique Somenzini wowing the crowd with a flawless demo. Add to that, fly-bys from a Real P-51, Stearman Biplane, and RV4. Will add more later. Mike

Sept 10,2007
Discussions are on-going about the width change to the runway. While the owner is being notified of our request, it is being decided by discussions with club members if we will just widen the runway 10' or move it out away from the active pit area 10' increasing the pit safety area but leaving the same width. Please contact Mike or Andy with your inputs.Meanwhile, let's give a good showing at the RDRC Fly-for-tots show this weekend. It is a great event for a great cause (Victory Junction). And don't forget, these folks come to ALL of our shows. Mike

Sept 1, 2007
Meeting minutes adjusted to reflect correct information as voted on in the meeting. Original posting was accomplished without notes. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Mike

August 29, 2007
A meeting was held 27 August at the Pizza Inn. Member participation was modest. Treasurer/Secretary accounting was read
and our budget forecast was discussed. It was voted on to purchase a full size refrigerator from one of two sources for the club house. Runway expansion was discussed, and it was voted that a 10' width and 50' length expansion was needed. Runway width will not change, but the runway will move out from the pit area 10' allowing a safer start-up area and more pit/spectator room. The 50' length extension was voted on and approved. The field owner will be contacted for approval including any lease adjustment. A safety barrier will be installed thereafter behind the starting spaces for spectator safety. An engine run pad will also be installed at the far end of the pits by the old awning to prevent excess noise during flying. Any engine adjustments will be done there if flying is in progress. A special thanks went out to Clayton Williams family for their great job this year maintaining the grounds and now re-stocking the snack bar. The Big Bird Fly-in was discussed including cost, prizes, and help needed. Volunteering was a subject of interest. It was requested of all club members that any manual labor and/or material contribution be discussed with club officers prior to accomplishment if a form of payment will be needed. It was also discussed that the trash needs to be emptied on a weekly basis and the port-a-jon needs filling with "blue solution" more often. Volunteers will be sought out. It was also requested of members that they take home crashed airplanes and not fill the trash cans with them. The meeting was adjourned.
The focus of the meeting was to bring a sense of fun back to our club and hobby. Many of us lose sight of the "fun factor" when we try to keep up with others and what they have. We over-spend and often get into a model that we cannot afford to crash. Many of us attend fly-ins and see sponsored flyers sporting the latest equipment and company logos. We then question our own direction in the hobby all too often believing we do not have good enough equipment. The focus was to bring everyone back down to earth, to enjoy what we have, not fuss over how few people are at the field on a 98 degree Sunday, and to just have fun. It was agreed upon that the club is best off not having a specific genre of flying (ie. racing, combat, 3D, etc.), but rather embrace variety and general sport flying. It accommodates everyone and will not lead to further expense. Mike

June 3, 2007
Well folks, our Spring Fly-in for 2007 was a huge success! We had 42 registered flyers for the largest show in recent years. It is a testament to the current group of enthusiastic members who over the last three to four years have improved on our ability to host safe, quality events as this one was. We attend other shows, learning best methods, and solicit constructive criticism from guests to make our club a formidable one on the show circuit. Sure you can host a humdrum event to raise a few operating bucks, or you can put on a memorable event leaving guests waiting for the next one. I think we succeeded in the latter. Thanks to all who participated!
A special thanks goes out to Clayton and Misty Williams for field grooming under such drought-ridden conditions. Clayton and John Barber also ran a superb radio impound. It was their first time doing so, and you would never know it. An event with no radio frequency issues is in itself a success. They not only are willing to do it again next show, but were also talking of numerous ways to improve on their process. Kudos guys! Misty Williams with Karen Thompson also ran a wonderful concession with only compliments on their lunch. Well fed guests make for happy guests! A special thanks goes out to Andy Thompson and Glenn Elam for four of the best 50/50 and candy drops we've seen. The kids always enjoy this as Andy's Robinhood 99 performs like it was built just for this. A thank you is also called for to all the young ladies who helped throughout the day with food and raffle sales! And let's not forget Paul Lincoln stepping up as our safety officer. Thanks for a safe show Paul!
The contests at the show were some of the best we have had. The "Cool Factor" contest was finally all that I had envisioned it could be! First the guys from RDRC put on a heck of a display of mayhem with their Outlaw flying wings. Losing two in the process! Then their was a very impressive R/C skydiver demonstration. Third was Charles Z. A 9 year old R/C prodigy who put on a fine 3D foamie demonstration until it was cut short by a real RV8 fly-by aerobatic demonstration by Darrell Ham. Fourth and the eventual winner was Kirby Southerland, who wowed the judges with a fine 3D display with an Extra owned by Linwood Barbour. Charles Z. also treated the crowd to a demonstration flight flying the sportsman precision pattern routine using a Goldberg Tiger. Very smooth!
The Peoples choice winners had a huge group to contend with. But the eventual winners were: Joe King with his Rich Uravitch OV10 in War bird category, Tim Wiggins and his Great Planes Stearman in Sportsman class, and RDRC's Robert Vess and his beautiful Pitts Python biplane in Aerobatic class..
Also new to our events were our first vendors! Thanks to the guys from 2DogRC showing park flyer wares for Dualsky. And Bernie Ottinger from Kinston showing his radio cases.
Profit info was not yet tallied for this event, but all indications are good. Thanks go out to Glenn Elam From Glenn's Hobby Corner for his Futaba 4EX contribution. Judine Heidicker from Classic Aviation and war art for the F4U Corsair display model. And John Barber for donating a very nice hammock to raffle. Along with the plaques, Triton Jr charger (Cool Factor prize), and the H9 Tribute 36 PNP supplied by the club, many folks went away even happier! And this friends along with good food, well run radio impound, safe conditions, and friendly atmosphere is what brings 'em back for the next one. But to make a buck, you gotta spend a buck! The DA50 for the Big Bird show raffle in October is just such an example. Hope to see you there!
Thanks to all who helped and participated. A great show! Mike Stokking

All ECRC members are asked to update 2007 club dues as soon as possible. Dues were needed in February so we can run this years activities.
It has been found that several club members are delinquent on there AMA as well. No member will be permitted to fly without a valid AMA card.
Our regular Fly-in is scheduled for June 2nd. All members are encouraged to come and fly as well as help run the event. Ask Andy or Mike what you can do to help both in preparation and at the show.
Thanks, Mike Stokking, ECRC Pres.

ECRC January Club Meeting.
Pizza Inn, Ash Street,
Goldsboro, NC.

Welcome 7.00pm:
Meeting called to order.
15 members were in attendance.
Thanks were given to Clayton and Misty Williams for the good job done on grounds maintenance.
Linda was thanked for cooking at the Fly in.
It was noted and thanks given for the good support the club members gave to the Giant Scale flyin in October.

Treasurers report:
Account is in good standing.
Account will be moved to New Century Bank, Goldsboro, NC as it is a better d
eal for the club.
Statement of account passed to all members in attendance.

ECRC now has 54 members.

New Business:
Safety generally and a copy of the AMA flying rules were passed around and it was reiterated that taking off from the Pit area, landing in the pit area, landing while persons were on the runway were all absolutely forbidden by the Club and AMA.
When a deadstick occurs it is the duty of members to make the other pilots and spectators aware of the deadstick and other pilots in the air or ground to give the pilot in trouble room to make a safe landing.
Frequency boards must be used and cards put up no matter how few members are flying.Spectrum/2.4ghz flyers still need to put up a card and will have a new board just for that as it enables verification of AMA membership and club membership.

Radio courtesy was discussed and members were reminded that it is common courtesy to give up your frequency and take down your card if you are not using it so that others may fly on that frequency if needed.

The startup pit direction was raised by Andy Thompson again as it was voted on last meeting and not carried out.

Voted unanimously to change the direction of startups in the pits to face the runway and not spectators.

It was motioned and voted unanimously to publish new club bylaws.

Fail safe was discussed and it was noted that Fail Safe MUST be set in order to fly at ECRC.

Mike Stokking asked that all members help stay out of the way when someone has a maiden flight or solo.

A special time for new flyer to fly was discussed and rejected.

Dates of June 2nd and October 13th 2007 are the next flyin dates.

Volunteers are requested on those days.
It was proposed to purchase and raffle off a DA50 engine at the next big bird event in October and to advertise that fact and sell tickets starting at the June fly in as a way to attract more attendees as the Giant Cap went down so well.
Voted on and passed unanimously.
It was agreed that Linda would search for a charitable cause for the club to support.
A future club picnic/cook out date in Fall was discussed but not finalized.
A combo door lock was requested by several members and it was voted on by all to acquire and install one.
Darren Wees was added to the list of official Flight Instructors

Dues are due February or members will not be allowed to fly .

Elections:
Bill Edmundson was not able to run for Vice President due to heavy work commitments.
A volunteer was sought for Vice President.
Thomas Williams volunteered and was elected unopposed for 2007.
Additional volunteers were sought for Safety officers and Jerry Mcuen and Cadd Harper were volunteered as additional safety officers.
There were no volunteers for the President or Treasurer/Sec positions so Andy Thompson and Mike Stokking were re elected to their respective posts.
There was no further business

Meeting adjourned until mid year.

At our last meeting it was decided to raise the Club dues to $100 per year with a renewal date for everyone on Feb 1st 2007 and Feb thereafter.
Dues will be pro rated in the meantime at a cost of 8.33 per month until then.
This increase is needed to cover operating and maintenance costs.
This was voted on and passed unanimously.
A seniors category was also added at $50 per year with a maximum flight restriction.
Family membership is now $125 for all the family.
Doc was elected the safety officer with Kelly Sanderson backing him up.
All other officers remain the same.
Please attend the Big Bird show in October even if you don't have a large scale plane as your support is always needed.

On January 2nd 2006 ECRC held its annual meeting.
A Spring Fun fly in was approved for May 13th 2006 and a IMAA Sanctioned Big Bird fly in on October 14th 2006. These will be our 4th such events.
Members re elected Mike Stokking as President and Bill Edmundson as Vice President.
Andy Thompson was elected Treasurer/Sec.
Joe Milkovits was recognized for his many years of service as Treasurer and made a Life member of the club.
Kelly Sanderson was elected Safety officer and Kirby Southerland his backup.
An official list of Flight instructors were nominated and they are Glenn Elam, Bill Edmundson, Mike Stokking, Kelly Sanderson, Andy Thompson and Ronnie Allen.
Persons who have not yet been approved for Solo flight should contact one of the above for free flight instruction.
A list of instructor phone numbers will be posted at the Club.
Note: This is only available to AMA club members.
The dues are held at $50 per year which is less than $1.00 per week.
All members are encouraged to take their litter home with them, including wreckage and to help keep up the appearance at ECRC.
We have now purchased a porta potti and again this will require some maintenance.
Safety was discussed and PCM failsafe setting came up, please if you don't know what that means contact one of the more knowledgeable members and make sure your radio is set up correctly.
Remember propellers are extremely dangerous and NO ONE other than the pilots and their helper/spotter is allowed forward of the flagpole and onto the flight line or runway.
The Radio frequency board is to be used at all times and all transmitters are to be left in the impound when not in use.
Please support our efforts as they are in your best interests.
Happy and safe flying in 2006
